Computer Wiki, like all other wikis, must have policies and restrictions, Though we hope not to limit your creativity, some ground rules must be set and followed.

- No heavy-duty swearing. Milder swears (damn, hell, or piss) are allowed here, but save the PG-13 language for somewhere else.
- Assume good faith. Remember that most fellow editors want to help the wiki, even if they have different ideas about how to do it. Try to work with them instead of against them.
- Stay civil and polite. Don't call names or insult anyone. If you disagree with someone, express your opinion on the topic politely without resorting to personal insults.
- Don't bite the newbies. Newcomers might not understand our rules and conventions well yet. Give them gentle guidance instead of being rude to them. Many can become great editors with the right encouragement.
- Don't harass anyone. If someone wants to be left alone, leave them alone.
- Respect all groups of people. Diversity brings new perspectives, encouraging learning and growth. Putting down certain groups (e.g. women, people of color, or disabled people) hurts our community. Avoid sexist, racist, homophobic, etc. language and stereotypes.
Make good edits.
- Don't vandalize. Any edit that does not improve Computer Wiki will be removed.
- Don't present opinions as facts. Be clear about what is expert consensus versus your own opinion.
- Don't engage in too much self-promotion. It's okay to put your blog, website, social media, etc. on your profile page. Sometimes, it may be appropriate to cite your own work on a page if it's relevant. But don't spam links to your work in articles or discussion.
- Keep articles accurate and on-topic. New articles should be related to our wiki's subject in some way. Make sure that you're writing accurate information and citing quality sources. Misinformation, especially misinformation about health and safety, is important to keep off the wiki.[1] Wikis have been shut down over this before.[2]
User and username policy
In compliance with the COPPA act and government law, anyone that admits to being under 13 will be blocked not only from using Computer Wiki, but from using Fandom.com itself.
Don't use usernames that:
- Imply a position of authority, like Admin or Sysop
- Contain non-latin characters, or the @ symbol
- Are absurdly long or made up of primarily numbers or symbols
- Contain curse words or detract from the overall quality of Computer Wiki
Article format
Articles as encyclopedia format, definition format, or how-to format will be accepted.
Article policy
- Any articles on computer software, manufacturers, hardware, operating systems and the like will be accepted
- Articles on how to do something are accepted and will be in a page like
How To/How to Do thisas a subpage of How To - Articles on videogames for platforms other than PC, Mac or Linux will not be accepted - leave these for the Gaming Wiki!
Getting help
If you're unclear about anything, or if there's a problem, ask an admin for help.
If a spammer, vandal, or troll is making obvious bad-faith edits, don't argue with them. (They're often looking for attention, so don't reward them by giving them that.) Instead, revert the bad edit(s). Then report the problem to an admin and to Fandom's SOAP team.
