The PowerPC logo.
PowerPC, now known as Power ISA since 2006, is a reduced instruction set computer instruction set architecture (RISC ISA) created by the Apple-IBM-Motorola alliance of 1991, known as AIM. The old name of PowerPC lives on as a trademark for some implementations of Power Architecture-based processors.
Uses
Originally intended for PCs (personal computers), it was most commonly used in Apple's computers like the Power Macintosh, PowerBook, iMac, iBook (now known as MacBook), eMac, Mac Mini, and Xserve lines.
It is no longer used in most computers, but it is still used for embedded, high-performance processors.
